Meet Our Matchers

Cat Matchers is a passionate group of volunteers led by long-time advocates for cat well-being in the Dallas community.

Darlene headshot

Darlene

"I will always have you in my heart and I promise to honor you by helping other kitties every day of my life” were the last words she said to her blue-eyed flame point. Tears streamed down her face as she made that promise - and she never looked back. That was 1990, and she's still doing it. Darlene is our adoptions person. Her greatest joy is creating a match that lasts a lifetime.

She believes that God gives you a passion to do something because that is where He wants you and that this is what she does to "pay back" for her many blessings. Darlene is also a long-term foster mom. She takes the adults who need help.

Tammy headshot

Tammy

Tammy got her start in animal rescue at the SPCA of Texas in 1996. She has had the opportunity to be a foster volunteer including bottle kittens, help in a low-cost/high volume spay/neuter clinic, work with hoarding cases, be an adoption facilitator as well as many other aspects of rescue. As the Dallas adoption landscape shifted, she took a deeper role in operations and adoptions—and she never looked back. She's passionate about reducing pet overpopulation by finding homes for cats, working with other local rescue groups and educating the public about spaying and neutering.

Alison headshot

Alison

Alison started helping cats in the DFW area when her family moved into a house that came with a feral mom and kittens living in the back yard. While looking into options for TNR (trap, neuter, return) to help them, she came across Cat Matchers, and started fostering not long after. She is, of course, happy to help any cats in need, but places a special focus on those cats who may be harder to adopt due to personality quirks that require them to have some extra time to decompress and require homes that will accept their unique personalities.

"Giving precious little kitties a chance at living their best lives in furrever homes." That was my motto when I first started rescuing and fostering with Cat Matchers.

I love being part of a team that is dedicated to keeping dozens of cats & kittens off the streets and out of shelters. Fostering homeless kitties in my home, nursing them back to health, socializing them, giving them the love and attention they need and then watching them graduate to their new furrever homes is one of the most rewarding feelings in the world."

Liz headshot

Liz

My love for cats began in childhood and has grown into a deep compassion for saving and nurturing feline lives. In July 2024, I became a foster volunteer for Cat Matchers - a decision that has transformed my life in countless meaningful ways.

I have welcomed many vulnerable kittens into my home to nurture them, help them gain confidence, restore their health, and prepare them for happy, successful adoptions.

Each foster experience has strengthened my commitment to rescue work. Every life I help save is a testament to the transformative power of rescue work. Through fostering, these cats and kittens have received the second chances they deserve - and in return, they have given me purpose, connection, and immeasurable happiness.

Linda headshot

Linda

Linda's love for cats started with her first cat, Boots, when she was 10 years old. That passion continues with her fostering today. She started fostering with Cat Matchers 5 years ago. Her first foster was, Bob, a male ginger with an amputated tail. Now she regularly fosters orphan kittens, cats, mommas & litters. She also helps with adoptions, special events and other fosters.

"Cats are the wildest of the tame and the tamest of the wild." -Mark Twain.
